Pélleas e Mélisande

In a kingdom dominated by darkness and disease, Mélisande, a maiden who seems to have lost her way in the forest, meets the no longer young Golaud. The two marry and Mélisande comes into contact with his family, particularly his brother Pélleas. As the unhealthy environment begins to undermine Mélisande’s health, a feeling arises between her and Pélleas, destined to end in tragedy.
One of Maurice Maeterlinck’s most original works, and laden with multiple meanings, from which Claude Debussy drew his musical work of the same name.
