Un tipo da forca

A man has just discovered that his wife, a café-concert singer, is cheating on him with another man while he is walking around with the baby she had after five months of marriage. Determined to unmask her lover, he informs the police commissioner to go to his house when he is out with the baby. Meanwhile, a certain Grognard, an admirer of his wife’s, shows up at the house. He teaches rhetoric to Quimper and claims to be called Lemercier to conceal his identity. Having read in the newspaper about a dangerous criminal wanted, whose surname is Lemercier, the singer runs to the police station, leaving the hypothetical evildoer with her lover, in the hope that he will succeed in framing him. After the police commissioner has tried to arrest all the male characters in the play one after the other, the situation will be resolved, Grognard will return to his house and the singer will resume her threesome with her husband and lover.
