Léonie è in anticipo

In Toudoux’s dining room, the family is having dinner. Suddenly his pregnant wife Léonie informs him that she is in pain and tells him she is worried because she is due to give birth in just a month. The husband, meanwhile, has eaten too much and is the victim of hiccups, so as if they were taking part in a procession, the two of them start going up and down arm in arm around the room. At a certain point, Léonie’s mother arrives and fills her with gifts for the baby, including a chamber pot; she absolutely wants her husband to put it on his head because she had a premonitory dream, and he does so. Meanwhile comes the midwife who can’t make herself understood by Toudoux. In the end, when Toudoux is exhausted, it turns out that Léonie is not pregnant at all, but she is only obsessed with the idea of having a child.
