Il matrimonio di Barillon

The marriage of Barillon is to take place in the City Hall of Paris. Barillon, however, got drunk the night before the ceremony and slapped a stranger; as a result, he was challenged to a duel. In the meantime, it turns out that Barillon’s future wife is in love with another man, Patrice, who is determined to prevent the wedding, and that the mayor in charge of the celebration of the wedding is none other than the one Barillon had slapped the night before. In the confusion that follows, poor Barillon will find himself inadvertently married to his mother-in-law and will have to work hard to bear the jealousy of her ex-husband, who mysteriously disappeared at sea, and who will turn up alive and well again.
