Il teatro comico di Georges Feydeau I

Il teatro comico di Georges Feydeau I

«How did I become a vaudevillist? It’s very simple. Laziness, that’s all. How! Does that surprise you? You ignore that laziness is the miraculous and fertile mother of work. And I say miraculous because the father is completely unknown…»

Georges Feydeau (1862-1921), considered to be one of the greatest playwrights in the history of French theatre, stands out for his ability to expose the flaws of the society of his time by mocking the bourgeoisie sitting in the audience, emphasizing in no uncertain terms its intellectual vacuity. His theatrical production, which includes about forty works, ranges from comedies to one-act plays and monologues, with which the author openly attacks the characters and mentality of his time without ever losing the verve that characterizes him.
The book, in addition to presenting an unpublished collection of plays and monologues, also contains some in-dephts essays about the theatrical style of the author, the characters of his texts and all the synthesis of the plots of all the works.
(edited by Pasquale Calvino and Annamaria Martinolli. The book is in Italian language)
