Unwilling to give in at all, the suitor swears to the woman that he can prove that her husband is unfaithful to her, obtaining a night of love from her in return. Lucienne, meanwhile, met Mrs Pontagnac, his suitor&#8217;s wife, and the two allied themselves to take revenge on their adulterous husbands.
