But all his attempts fail miserably, and when his uncle, General Petypon du Grel\u00e9, shows up at home, Petypon is forced to make him believe that M\u00f4me is his wife. The two are thus invited to the wedding reception of another of the General&#8217;s nieces, during which the M\u00f4me makes a mockery of the bourgeoisie present in the room, managing to win the esteem of all. Once back home, the truth will slowly come out and the General will be delighted to discover that La M\u00f4me is not his nephew&#8217;s wife.
